Samsung Phases Out S Pen: Fold 7 and S27 Ultra Clues…

You know what made Samsung phones stand out for years? The S Pen. That little stylus was more than just a gimmick it was the reason some people stuck with Galaxy Notes and later Ultra models. But after tearing down the new Galaxy Z Fold 7, it's becoming painfully clear: Samsung might be done with it.

No S Pen Digitizer in the Fold 7

We just cracked open the Fold 7, and right away, something felt off. There’s no Wacom digitizer inside the inner display. That means the S Pen doesn’t work on the big screen anymore. For a device that’s supposed to be Samsung’s flagship foldable, it’s a weird move. And it’s not a one-off.

Samsung also dropped Bluetooth from the S Pen that comes with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. You know, the feature that let you use the stylus as a remote for your camera, or to control presentations? Gone. They said it helps save battery and weight, but let’s be real it also makes the S Pen way less useful.

The Pattern Is Clear

At this point, it’s hard to ignore the trend. No digitizer in the Fold 7. No Bluetooth in the S25 Ultra. And now, according to a report from PhoneArena, the Galaxy S27 Ultra might ditch the S Pen entirely.

Yup. Apparently, Samsung is seriously considering removing the S Pen from the Ultra lineup because there's just “no more room” inside the phone. Honestly, that sounds like a polite way of saying, “we’re done with this feature.” Especially since the S27 Ultra is expected to pack a bigger camera sensor and new tech that takes up more space.

But Why Kill the S Pen?

Here’s the thing, people love the S Pen. Whether it's for quick notes, precise editing, or just messing around with sketches, it’s been a fan-favorite since the Galaxy Note days. But it looks like Samsung is slowly pulling the plug by making the S Pen less and less useful with each release.

Removing Bluetooth might not seem like a big deal until you realize it kills features like remote camera control, Air Actions, and even Find My Pen support. Without that extra functionality, it's just... a pen. A pen you have to buy separately.

Final Thoughts

It’s wild to think that the S Pen might soon be a thing of the past. Samsung made it iconic, and now they're phasing it out quietly, but definitely intentionally. Maybe they’re banking on AI features and better cameras to carry future flagships, but it’s still a loss for longtime fans.

If the Galaxy S27 Ultra really drops the S Pen, it’ll be the end of an era. And honestly? That sucks.

Looks like the S Pen era is coming to a quiet end. I’ll be keeping my S21 Ultra close like a relic from better times.
