Amazon Renewed Apple Watches Are Weirdly Good…
Buying an Apple Watch from Amazon Renewed feels like one of those deals that should have a huge catch hidden somewhere.
The prices are way lower than buying new, the listings all claim the watches are “professionally inspected,” and somehow you can get models that still look almost untouched. Naturally, I wanted to figure out what corners were actually being cut here.
And honestly… the answer was a little unexpected.
The Accessories Give It Away
The first thing you notice is that the included accessories definitely are not Apple quality.
The charger works, but it’s one of those super generic aftermarket pucks that feels way lighter than the original. More importantly, it does not support proper fast charging, which is kind of annoying if you’re using a newer Apple Watch model.
Then there’s the band.
The replacement band included with the watch felt incredibly cheap. The material was rough, the fit wasn’t great, and it immediately gave off that “bulk Amazon accessory bundle” vibe. It technically works, but it’s probably the first thing most people would replace.
But The Watch Itself Is Surprisingly Nice
That’s where things started getting confusing.
The actual Apple Watch looked almost flawless. No deep scratches, no obvious dents, and no signs of heavy wear. If someone handed this to me without context, I probably would’ve believed it was lightly used instead of refurbished.
That’s what made me start questioning whether these watches are even being refurbished at all.
I’m honestly fairly certain a lot of Amazon Renewed Apple Watches are simply cleaned, tested, and resold rather than fully refurbished internally. And to be fair, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
In some cases, that might actually be better than receiving a heavily repaired unit with questionable aftermarket parts inside.
The One Thing You Absolutely Need To Check
There is one thing that matters way more than the charger or the band replacement.
Battery health.
That’s the real condition report for an Apple Watch.
Inside the settings app, Apple lets you check maximum battery capacity, and that number tells you very quickly whether you got a good deal or a future headache.
In this case, the watch came in at 98% battery health, which is honestly excellent for a renewed device.
That basically means the battery is still close to new condition, and for something sold at a discount, that’s kind of the best-case scenario.
Final Thoughts
Honestly, Amazon Renewed seems surprisingly solid for Apple Watches.
The accessories are absolutely where they cut costs. You’re getting generic chargers, cheap replacement bands, and none of the premium feel you’d get from buying directly from Apple.
But the actual watch itself? That was the surprising part.
If the battery health is still high, you’re probably getting a much better deal than most people expect. Just make sure you check it immediately before the 90-day return window closes.
Now I’m wondering how many people accidentally sold a perfectly good Apple Watch for way less than they should’ve.
