New iPhone Air MagSafe Battery Pack Review: Stylish, Pricey, and Limited

When Apple releases an accessory, you know it’s going to look great. And the new MagSafe battery pack for the iPhone Air is no exception. It’s sleek, well-built, and fits the iPhone Air perfectly. But here’s the thing, this good-looking charger has some major flaws.

The Price Problem

Apple’s history with MagSafe battery packs hasn’t been the best, and unfortunately, this one doesn’t break the trend. At around $100, it’s definitely on the pricey side. That wouldn’t be so bad if it could fully charge your phone, but it only tops up the iPhone Air to about 65%.

Compatibility Issues

Here’s where things really go downhill. This MagSafe pack was clearly designed just for the iPhone 17 Air. If you try to use it with other models like the iPhone 16 Pro or even the iPhone 17 Pro Max, it doesn’t work as well. The alignment isn’t perfect, and the charging efficiency drops noticeably.

The Workaround

Yes, you can still plug it into your phone with a USB-C cable, but at that point… why not just use a regular power bank? With its already limited capacity, it doesn’t give you much extra battery life outside of the iPhone Air.

Final Thoughts

The new MagSafe battery pack for the iPhone Air is a classic Apple accessory: beautiful, functional (in a limited way), but way overpriced for what it actually offers. Unless you absolutely need a perfectly-matching charger for your iPhone Air, you’re better off grabbing a cheaper, more versatile power bank.

And hey, at least this battery pack looks so nice you could probably use it as a fancy paperweight.
