How I Brought a Cracked Screen Back to Life Using a Laser…
Cracked Screens Don’t Mean the End
I’m shooting a very strong laser at this screen, but don’t worry, I have a good reason. A cracked display doesn’t automatically mean a phone is beyond repair.
With the right technique, you can bring it back to life, even when it looks completely destroyed.
From Wire to Laser
Traditionally, we use machines with wires to separate broken glass from the OLED underneath. It works, but it’s tricky, takes time, and there’s always a risk of damaging the OLED.
The method I’m using right now is much safer and faster. I’m using the REFOX RK10 Laser Machine.
You just place the screen in the machine, select the phone model, and the laser does its thing. It cuts right through the optically clear adhesive holding the glass to the OLED without touching the delicate display beneath.
The Odd-Looking OLED
Once the laser finishes, the screen looks pretty strange, kind of like a peeled sticker stuck to a weird pattern. That’s normal. The next step is carefully removing the OLED from the glass.
Using some alcohol and this machine, you can gently peel it off without causing any damage.
A New Life for Old Screens
After the OLED is free, it’s just a matter of cleaning up the leftover adhesive and applying new glass.
Once that’s done, the screen looks brand new, and the phone has a second life. It’s always satisfying to see a cracked, dead-looking display turn back into a fully functional screen.
Final Thoughts
Cracked screens don’t have to be a lost cause. With tools like the REFOX RK10 Laser Machine and a bit of patience, even the most damaged OLEDs can get a second chance. There’s something really satisfying about taking what looks like trash and turning it back into a perfectly working screen. It’s one of those moments in phone repair that never gets old.
